.SE Domain Names
The .SE country-specific extension was launched in 1986 and given to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration process was pretty restrictive, so a very low number of domains were secured. Persons could buy no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was compulsory, i.e. merely Swedish persons, business entities and organizations were able to book a dot SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened significantly and, as a result, the number of dot SE domains has been increasing each year.
Today, anyone can order a dot SE domain, which gives you the chance to reach the Swedish net community even if you do not have a local presence.
