DKIM, which stands for DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an email authentication system, which hinders email addresses from being spoofed and email content from being tampered with. This is done by attaching an electronic signature to every email message sent from an address under a certain domain. The signature is created based on a private key that is available on the outbound SMTP server and it can be verified by using a public key, which is available in the global Domain Name System. Thus, any message with changed content or a forged sender can be spotted by email providers. This approach will increase your online security immensely and you’ll know for sure that any email sent from a business partner, a banking institution, and so on, is genuine. When you send out messages, the recipient will also know for sure that you are indeed the one who has sent them. Any email that turns out to be bogus may either be marked as such or may never end up in the recipient’s mailbox, depending on how the given provider has decided to cope with such messages.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Hosting

When you get any of the cloud hosting that we are offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail option will be enabled by default for any domain name that you register under your web hosting account, so you will not have to create any records or to enable anything manually. When a domain name is added in the Hosted Domains section of our in-house developed Hepsia Control Panel using our MX and NS resource records (so that the email messages related to this domain will be handled by our cloud hosting platform), a private key will be issued right away on our email servers and a TXT resource record with a public key will be sent to the DNS system. All email addresses set up using this domain will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, so if you send emails such as periodic newsletters, they will reach their target audience and the receivers will know that they are genuine, as the DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality makes it impossible for unsolicited persons to forge your e-mail addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers

All obligatory DomainKeys Identified Mail records will be set up automatically by our cloud hosting platform when you add a domain as hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, so in case you decide to purchase a semi-dedicated hosting plan, you won’t need to configure anything to be able to take advantage of the email authentication system. The domain name must use our name servers so that its DNS resource records can be managed by our company and in case this requirement is fulfilled, a private cryptographic key will be created on our email servers and a public key will be added to the global Domain Name System by a special TXT record. All addresses that you set up with the domain name will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, which will make it impossible for third parties to fake any email address. Both you and your partners or clients can benefit from this feature, as it will guarantee a higher level of safety for your email communication.
