Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is designed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from another one, typically with the purpose to scam the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a specific record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally receive it. The record includes all email servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message will not be submitted and it'll be discarded. In the event that you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam which look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a couple of clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down menu and enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be approved to send email messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This feature provides you with the best standard of security, but it is not applicable if only your site is on our servers while the emails for the domain are managed somewhere else. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you are able to secure your emails by activating the SPF security service for every domain name hosted in your account with just a few mouse-clicks. You can do this in the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these kinds of issues, you will not have any kind of problems to activate the security. The only things that you will have to do will be to choose a domain from a drop-down menu and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be mailed around the world only if they're sent from that specific server. In case your email addresses are taken care of by us and not by some third-party supplier, you'll also be able to benefit from an option for email messages to be sent only when the domain name has our MX records and this would be the most secure option. In case you have any kind of questions related to thisfeature, you'll be able to get in touch with our support team 24/7.
